The Bible says: “We all make mistakes many times.” (James 3:2, footnote) And as we have seen, it is a sign of humility and maturity to admit your mistakes —and to do so right away. The next step is to learn from your mistakes . Why do mistakes happen? How can you deal with them? Can they be avoided? A proper view of mistakes will help to answer these questions. When we refuse to admit we have made a mistake , we outrage the judgment of others; and they will conclude that we are either too proud, or dishonest, or too stupid to recognize that we made a mistake —all of which may well cause a barrier to come between us and those around us. The next step is to learn from your mistakes. But there are good reasons for you to come clean about your mistakes —whether they involve a traffic ticket or anything else. Because it’s the right thing to do. Describing the standard for Christians, the Bible says: “We wish to conduct ourselves honestly in all things.” — Hebrews 13:18. Regardless of age or experience, we all make mistakes . It could be a thoughtless word or a poorly timed action, or perhaps we simply overlooked something or let it slip our mind. How can we deal with them? A proper view of mistakes will help us answer these questions. Although they have faults and make mistakes , Jehovah guides his people with his holy spirit.
